Samuel Dallas was general manager of “Parade” which won best musical revival

Sharp-eyed theater fans were sure to spot Medford native Samuel Dallas on stage during the 2023 Tony Awards ceremony held Sunday night.

“Parade,” about the 1915 lynching of American Jew Leo Frank, won best revival of a musical. Dallas works as the general manager for the show and was on-stage for the presentation.

“What a night! Just thrilled to be part of telling such an important story right now and extremely lucky to be able to do it with some of the brightest and best professionals on Broadway,” Dallas said of the recognition.

The Tony Award, recognizes excellence in live Broadway theatre. The awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony. The annual awards, now in their 76th year, are named after Antoinette “Tony” Perry, See DALLAS on page 3 an actress, producer and theatre director who was co-founder and secretary of the American Theatre Wing.

Dallas actually had two chances to make it to the awards stage in the best revival of a musical category. He also was general manager of the revival of “Into the Woods,” which was also nominated for the award.

Samuel Dallas is the son of Bill and Karen Dallas of Medford and the grandson of Jack and Marge Dallas of Medford.
