There will be the return of some crowd favorites as well as some new attractions on tap for the 2023 Taylor County Fair July 27-30 at the Taylor County Fairgrounds in Medford.

Fair board president Kim Wilson said board members and other volunteers are hard at work getting ready for this year’s fair. The theme for the 2023 Fair is “Things Are Cookin’ at the Taylor County Fair.”

In addition to the carnival ride, gallery of food vendors, animal shows and static displays, the fair will feature entertainment each day.

On Thursday, July 27, the Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association will be back in the horse arena for a free show. See FAIR on page 3 On Friday evening the Animal Auction run by MASS (Market Animal Show & Sale) will be held. The auction begins at 6 p.m. in the animal show ring.

On Friday night, there will be the return of NTPA truck and tractor pulling action with five classes of action.

Saturday evening will see a change this year with the switch to “Hillbilly Racing” in the grandstand.

“New this year is Hillbilly Racing,” Wilson said. “Join in the fun and race your truck, car or UTV through an obstacle course of small jumps and a mud pit.”

Wilson said the fair was excited to bring this new motor sports activity at the fair and invites those with a competitive spirit to join in racing their friends and neighbors in what is sure to be a fun time.

The 2023 Taylor County Fair will go out with a bang, and some crashes too, as the Demolition Derby roars back to the fair.

Classes include: Semi Weld Midsize/Compact, Street Stock/compact cars; semi weld midsize truck/van/suv; youth street stock. Plus there will be a Power Wheels derby for the little ones.

In addition to the grandstand excitement, there will be plenty to do on the midway and in the beer stand. On Thursday evening, Tom Burt will perform in the beer stand. On Friday there will be Phoenix Entertainment as the DJ in the beer stand and on Saturday, Outer Limits will be the DJ in the beer stand. For the kids there will be plenty to see and do. The Ag Adventure tent will be on the grounds again to give hands-on agriculture education and fun. The Taylor County Historical Society Museum and Pioneer Village will be open for tours during the fair. The Phillips Children’s Museum will bring their Traveling Museum of fun activities for youth to the fair.

On the midway S& J Enterprizes Carnival and Rides will be back with wristband rides on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m, Saturday 5 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Advance tickets for wristbands will be available in July.
