Parent/teacher group revived at Medford and Stetsonville elementary schools

The Parent/Teacher Group of Stetsonville Elementary and Medford Area Elementary is being revived under new organizers.

Dana Paul has taken on the chairperson role for Stetsonville and Rebecca Beebe has taken on the role for Medford.

Meetings will be held the first Monday of the month at Stetsonville Elementary at 4:30 p.m., in the library, while Medford Elementary will be the second Monday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the library.

Monday September 12 marks the first public meeting for the Medford Area Elementary Parent/Teacher group.

This will be an opportunity to bring together parents and staff of elementaryaged children to discuss their concerns, suggestions they may have, and build relationships between the parents, teachers and even the students.

With administration at Stetsonville changing, both Paul and Beebe have taken the reigns and are learning along the way of how to bring people from the community back into the school.

Monday’s meeting is to solidify some future events that the group is planning to put on.

Beebe said “There will be an agenda to keep us on track, but the meetings are open for discussion with hopes to create a safe space where parents and staff can come and address their concerns and take a more active role in their kids’ school.”

A planning committee has been established and they are starting to plan events that they would like to do during the school year. These events will only happen throughout the school year. Both Beebe and Paul agreed that there are so many events going on in the summer already, that they wouldn’t want to add to the craziness.

Fundraising efforts will happen through various fundraisers that are held throughout the year, including the Scholastic Book Fair and the magazine fundraisers that happen annually.

Paul said “The meetings will not go over an hour, however if certain ideas would like to be added to the agenda beforehand people are welcome to share them.”

The group plans to take baby steps and dip their toes in the water their first year to avoid getting in over their head with events.

If you would like to take on a more active role in your child’s educational experience, now is your chance.
