Colbe Bull graduated in May of 2022 from Medford Area Senior High School. In the summer prior to his senior year, he completed Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson South Carolina. This summer he is performing an 8 week advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri.

During his high school senior year, Colbe applied for the GFRD 4 year Minuteman Scholarship with plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Military Science and Leadership. Just before departing for AIT, Colbe was informed he had been awarded the 4 year GFRD Minuteman Scholarship.

The Wisconsin Army National Guard selected 6 recipients for this year’s 4 year Minuteman Scholarship. Scholarship recipients can choose either 100% tuition and fees coverage or a $10,000 per year room and board option as well as $1,200.00 annually for books, and a monthly living expense stipend of $420.00.

Colbe will contract with the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and obtain the rank of cadet in the Simultaneous Membership Program. In this role, he will train to be an Army officer. At his monthly drills, he will assist the unit’s leadership with planning, and develop his leadership skills in a hands-on environment. He will also take one ROTC class each semester, and grow as a leader under the mentorship of Regular Army and National Guard soldiers at the university’s ROTC program.

After graduation, Colbe will serve as an Army National Guard officer for 8 years. This will allow him the opportunity to work in his chosen civilian career field, while making a positive contribution to his state as a citizen soldier.
