Donating can go through reliable source for school

The Cornell School District has a new partnership with the national non-profit DonorsChoose, to help teachers tap into a network of 4 million donors, to support classroom projects, and more seamlessly align with district strategy and operations.

Teachers in the Cornell School District have raised more than $4,500 and completed nine projects on DonorsChoose. The projects vary from books to laptops, and other tools, to enhance the learning environment and support student success.

“Our district is thankful to DonorsChoose, for providing our students and staff the “extra things” that really make school special, and memorable,” said Cornell School District superintendent Paul Schley. “Unique projects have been implemented, thanks to this support.”

As one of the 300 plus members of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program, Cornell can fully support teachers in the use of the platform, ensure safety and security, and align efforts with the district’s strategic priorities. The district will be able to monitor all donated materials, principals will be notified each time a project is funded and receive early notification when there are new “match” funding opportunities.

DonorsChoose vets each request, ships the funded resources directly to the classroom, and provides thank yous and reporting, to donors and school leaders.

“We can’t wait to see how the DonorsChoose community can support these educators even more through our partnership,” said Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.
