Glacial Spring at Mondeaux Dam temporarily unavailable beginning January 4

(Westboro, Wis., December 30, 2020) – Beginning Monday, Jan. 4, the glacial spring in the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will be unavailable to the public for up to two weeks during construction activities in the area. The forest is improving access to the spring as part of a larger renovation project underway at the recreation area. The water outlet has already been replaced and relocated near the parking lot. The upcoming closure will accommodate construction of a new open-sided shelter, removal of the deteriorating wooden steps, and installation of an accessible ramp leading to the outlet. The Forest will make another announcement as soon as access to the water is restored. The most timely information will be available through the forest's social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
