Miller Dam annual picnic scheduled for Sunday August 7

The Miller Dam Lake Association will be holding their 2022 Annual Picnic at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 7 at the main pavilion with the organization’s annual meeting to follow. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass and a chicken dinner and beverages will be provided.

The annual meeting will be held immediately following the picnic lunch on Sunday, August 7. Current officers strongly encourage fellow members to consider serving a one-year term on the board of directors or in the capacity of president, vice president, treasurer, or secretary. Organizations such as the Miller Dam Lake Association thrive with shared insights, talents, and experience of new leadership. Current officers are: President Scott Nichols, vice president George Kalmon, treasurer Joe Liegl and secretary Sutton Plombon.

The Miller Dam Lake Association has been busy in recent months with a number of projects to improve the recreational area. Projects include: Blacktopping of main pavilion parking lot; Landscaping and paving of Usack Memorial Park site; Installation of pad and porta-potty at Usack Memorial Park; Planting of grass seed; Continued efforts to expand access via Fisherman’s Loop Road; Maintenance of docks and boat landings; Installation of ‘Kids Don’t Float’ lifejacket kiosks (joint effort w/ Eagle Scouts); Erosion control on shorelines; Installation and maintenance of Wood-Duck houses; Walleye planting and monitoring (joint effort with the Wisconsin DNR); Aerator and main pavilion electricity expense; Event advertising and MDLA website maintenance; Annual $1,000 scholarships for Gilman, Medford and Rib Lake students; and Donation of $1,000 to Western Taylor County Library’s “An Ocean of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program.
