A son, Jack Joseph, was born to Joe and Jessica (Bourke) Liebau of Glendale on June 8, 2020.

He weighed six pounds, 10 ounces and was 19-1/2 inches long.

Grandparents are John and Julie Bourke of Marathon City, Cindy Liebau of DePere and Joe Libau Sr. of Niagara.

Dean’s list

Olivia Dreger of Marathon was awarded to the University of Minnesota-Duluth dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester.

Dreger is a college freshman majoring in Pre Integr Elem and Spec Ed.

Summer school

Marathon Public Schools will offer summer school in two sessions this year, Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 17, and Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 31. All summer school sessions will run 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Summer school classes will be separated into themes based on grades. Within each theme, there will be three different classes - two academic-based and one physical fitness. Student will be taught three 70 minute classes by three different teachers. Summer school will offer summer band lessons for students in current grades 5-12. This class will develop instrumental playing skills with one-on-one instruction and may happen in a virtual setting. Emphasis will be on rhythm, technique, expressions, and fun with performing music.

Summer school will also offer driver’s education and Strength and Conditioning for students in grades 5-11.

Grab & go crafts

Children can pick up a craft kit with supplies and instructions to create their own fire-breathing dragon from this Monday, July 6, thru Friday, July 10, at the Marathon County Public Library’s Marathon City Branch.

Children can visit the library any time it’s open during this week to pick up a kit and then make the craft in their homes.

The crafts are free and limited to only one per child.
