On campus

Two Marathon students have graduated from UWStout in May 2020. They are Austin Borchardt, who earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, and Mackenzie Drozd, who earned a bachelor of science degree in technology education.

UW-River Falls reports that Kaitlytn Mroczenski, a student in social work, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2019-20 school year.

By appointment

The Marathon City Branch Library is open by appointment. Patrons can use the library computers and browse the collection Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, 3-7 p.m. and Wednesday, 1-5 p.m.

Patrons can also request curbside pickup of materials 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1-3 p.m. on Monday and 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hall of Fame

Nominations to the Marathon Red Raider Hall of Fame will be accepted through Tuesday, June 30.

Criteria for the Hall of Fame is as follows:

_ The individual is a graduate and has been an athlete in the Marathon School District (at least 10 years out of high school) or is a former coach or staff member from the Marathon School District.

_ The individual has demonstrated mastery in the athletic endeavors they participated in, whether coaching, participating or supporting the athletics of Marathon High School. This mastery should include state, conference and school recognition.

_ Athletic achievements since leaving Marathon High School may be considered.

_ Nominations must be made by a person other than the candidate and submitted to either the Marathon Athletic Director or the Marathon Athletic Club.

A Hall of Fame Committee will select this year’s recipients. Five people are selected each year.

Hall of Fame inductees will be notified by Wednesday, July 15. A Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony will be held the Sunday following the Marathon Athletic Club Golf Outing.

Summer school

Marathon Public Schools will offer summer school in two sessions this year, Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 17, and Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 31. All summer school sessions will run 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Summer school classes will be separated into themes based on grades. Within each theme, there will be three different classes - two academicbased and one physical fitness. Student will be taught three 70 minute classes by three different teachers. Summer school will offer summer band lessons for students in current grades 5-12. This class will develop instrumental playing skills with oneon- one instruction and may happen in a virtual setting. Emphasis will be on rhythm, technique, expressions, and fun with performing music.

Summer school will also offer driver’s education and Strength and Conditioning for students in grades 5-11.
