Special meeting

The St. John’s and Zion Lutheran Church Councils from Rib Falls will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Zion with district president Pastor Mike Jensen, circuit pastor Jim Krueger (Immanuel, Medford), Pastor Jeff Mahnke (St. Peter, Schofi eld and Wausau), and Pastor Hadler. Pastor Mahnke was asked to attend the meeting because of his familiarity with alternate forms of ministry, as he currently serves as our district’s Home Mission Board chairman. This meeting is the result of the early January Call meeting when the voters determined to not place a call for a full-time pastor but explore the possibilities of calling a part-time or semi-retired pastor, as well as other possibilities. A report will be given to the congregations following this special meeting.

Childcare committee

St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, voters agreed on Jan. 19 to establish a committee to further explore the possibilities of operating a childcare center. The voters named Brianna Fitzsimmons, Brian Gumtz and Jerry Natzke to serve on this committee. The voters granted the committee a budget of $5,000 for 2020 from the General Fund if funds are necessary to gather information.

The Childcare Committee has tentatively scheduled an Open Forum on Sunday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. to report its findings to the congregation.
