Marathon High School will host solo-ensemble on Tuesday, March 17. On this day high school students will not report to school unless they are taking part in the music competition. All other students in the district will have a normal school day.

Buses will run and transport students at St. Mary’s School, Marathon Area Elementary School and Marathon Venture Academy.

Blood drive

A blood drive will be held Monday, Jan. 14, 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary’s School, Marathon.

Grandparents Day

St. Mary’s School, Marathon, will hold Grandparents Day on Friday, Jan. 31, starting at 1 p.m. The event coincides with Catholic Schools Week.

St. Matthew’s

The St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marathon, will hold a Long Range Planning Committee meeting on Monday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m. The church’s Finance Committee will also meet at this time.

The St. Matthew’s Church Council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.

MAMBA concert

The MAMBA music boosters will host a spaghetti dinner and student concert on Sunday, Jan. 26, 11 a.m. at Marathon High School.

Basketball clinic

A Little Red Raiders basketball clinic series will be held on Saturday mornings in early 2020 at the Marathon Area Elementary School gymnasium. The clinic dates are Jan. 11, 18 and 25.

An 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. session will be held for plays in grades 5K through 2. Players in grades three and four have a 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. session.

Adam Jacobson will be the clinic coach assisted by Phil Seubert, Claude Seubert, Todd Stoffel, Chuck Woelfel, Alex Blume and this year’s high school basketball team players.

Book Club

The Marathon Book Club will discuss “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah at the Marathon Branch Public Library on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Trip support

Kurt-n-Jo’s Restaurant in Marathon City has offered to host “Washington Wednesdays” in support of a Marathon Venture Academy trip to Washington, D.C.

Kurt-n-Jo’s will donate 10 percent of Wednesday sales (dine-in, take-out, and ice cream) from 4-8 p.m. to the student trip. The fundraiser will last through Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020.
