The library transition is complete! It is so good to have the students enjoying the space. They love coming in, looking for books and reading quietly on the new furniture. We also use the space for small group meetings. The Big Brother and Big Sister mentors meet here as well.

Mrs. Heiting and Mrs. Wolf worked most of the summer to get it ready. It was a long process, but was worth it. The end result is what Mrs. Heiting had in mind when the transition first started. We are so grateful to everyone who helped along the way. We appreciate the support of the administration, school board and staff.

The custodial staff was amazing, they really worked hard to get everything set up to improve the look and use of the library. We also had a really great group of volunteers who helped pack boxes, add stickers, put books back on the shelf and brainstorm some layout ideas.

There were a lot of things that started happening before anyone knew this transition was going to take place. Mrs. Briceland, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Aumann were invaluable to me during this time. They kept me focused on the task, and helped me when I was overwhelmed. I am so touched and grateful for all of the support.

We will host an open house/welcome event on Monday, Nov. 14. This will coordinate with Title One parent night and the Scholastic Book Fair. We encourage you to attend the parent night, stop in and see our new space and purchase some books for your readers to enjoy. They make great Christmas presents and it supports our school and staff. We get a percentage of the sales to buy books for the library and classrooms.

On Nov. 17, there will be a Financial Literacy night. The library and bookfair will also be open that night.

Watch for more details about the book fair on the school webpage.
