“We can basically do a check on anything the State Patrol would be looking for on a heavy truck or trailer,” said McIlquham.

He says the versatility of services they offer has helped keep them busy, because when one area gets slow, other areas of work picks up.

McIlquham brings years of experience. He started out working at Kurt Manufacturing, about 12 years ago. There, he met a friend who got him a job at Wisconsin Metal Fab.

“Then, I learned my trade there,” said McIlquham.

After that, he worked at a custom shop for a while, before he got hurt in an accident.

“I was down for seven months, and I just said ‘I’m not going back to work – I’m going to go work for myself,’” said McIlquham. “So, here we are.”

McIlquham did the work in his little shop, before moving the business to its current location March 1. He now has two employees.

“Anything to do with steel fabrication welding, we can do,” said Coty McIlquham, owner of ProWeld. “From steel to stainless, aluminum.”

They can build most things people can dream up, when it comes to steel.

McIlquham also says they can pretty much weld anything. He says that can be especially useful for farmers, who need something fixed and welded quickly.

“That’s been a really big hit here,” said McIlquham, adding he enjoys meeting the people his services bring in.

The business offers staircases, including spiral staircases, and handrails for residential and commercial buildings.

McIlquham says ProWeld also does light automotive services. He says they offer tubing work and roll cages for vehicles like UTVs, side-by-sides and mud-racers. The business also has a line of rust-proofing.

“(We) are one of very few shops in the state of Wisconsin, that can actually weld on a frame legally,” said McIlquham.

He says they do a lot of frame restoration
