The Edgar Seasoned Players will hold an organizational meeting on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at BS’s Bar & Grill, Edgar, regarding the upcoming wood bat season. All managers and interested parties are encouraged to attend.
Music performances
The Edgar Fine Arts Association has announced a tentative schedule of Thursday evening concerts in Oak Street Park during late July and early August.
The concerts, if held, will include COVID-19 pandemic safety measures. These will include no concession sales, hand sanitizer dispensers at bathrooms and a request that all non-family audience members maintain a six foot social distance. The concerts may not have a backup location in the event of inclement weather A schedule of performers is: July 23, Tiny and Shoes; July 30, Jerry Schmitt Trio; Aug. 6, David Anthony Berg; Aug. 13, Elvis (Fred Heidmann).
Edgar High awards
Edgar High School has announced senior awards for the 2019-20 school year.
Class of 2020 valedictorian is Bailey Imfoff and Marissa Ellenbecker is the salutatorian. Imhoff receives the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship worth $2,250 per year for up to eight semesters to be applied towards tuition.
Several graduates will enter the U.S. Armed Services. They include Carson Lemmer, Navy; Ashton Mohr, Air Force; Elliott Myszka, Marine Corps.
The Wildcat Fab award was presented to Ethan Heil. The award recognizes a student who “shows up each day to class with a positive attitude to get work done and is not afraid to think outside the box.”
The U.S, Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award went to Bailey Imhoff.
Mikaela Christianson won the Semper Fidelis Bandsmen Award sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award went to Bailey Imhoff. Winning this year’s John Phillip Sousa Award were Mareike Christianson and Kaleb Hafferman.
Kaleb Higgs won a $10,000 Herb Kohl Foundation Scholarship. Devin Jacobs was awarded the Technical Excellence Scholarship worth $2,250 per year up to six semesters to be applied towards tuition.
Art Department awards were presented to Miryssa Anderson, Haley Burns, Kennedy Butt, Mareike Christianson, Mikaela Christianson, Emolia Larson and Dakota Stahel, who won the Best Self Portrait Award.
The Presidential Award of Academic Excellence goes this year to Jenna Adamski, Catherine Bergs, Kennedy Butt, Mikaela Christianson, Marissa Ellenbecker, Blake Furger, Kaleb Hafferman, Ca- den Higgins, Bailey Imhoff, Emolia Larson, Carson Lemmer, Tara Schilling and Mc-Kenna Schraufnagel.
The Presidential Award for Educational Achievement went to Kailee Davis, Hallie Driscoll, Mareike Christianson, Allison Dvorak, Anna Fehlhaber-Poppe, Adam Hanneman, Ethan Heil, Devin Jacobs, Heath Kavajecz, Ethan Lemmer, Ashton Mohr, Elliott Myszka, Ian Riehle, Morgan Schilling, Brianna Slack, Mason Stoudt and Mary Volm.
The Edgar Academic Excellence Award goes to students who maintain a 3.33 GPA during the first three individual grading periods. The winners are Jenna Adamski, Petar Bezhoski, Haley Burns, Kennedy Butt, Mareike Christianson, Mikaela Christianson, Kailee Davis, Marissa Ellenbecker, Carson Lemmer, Anna Fehlhaber-Poppe, Blake Furger, Kaleb Hafferman, Adam Hannemann, Ethan Heil, Caden Higgins, Bailey Imhoff, Ingvild Jenssen, Joshua Kania, Austin Miller, Chad Myszka, Morgan Schilling, Tara Schilling, McKenna Schraufnagel, Brianna Slack and Tyler Westfall.
This year’s WIAA Scholar Athlete nominee is Kaleb Hafferman. Marissa Ellenbecker was named a WIAA Scholar Athlete. She is Edgar High School’s eleventh WIAA Scholar Athlete finalist.
The Letter Club Scholar Athlete awards went to Caden Higgins and Bailey Imhoff. The Distinguished Athlete Award presented by the U.S. Marine Corps went to Kailee Davis and Kaleb Hafferman.
Marawood Scholar Athletes (who maintain a 3.5 GPA whole also lettering in a sport for three terms) are Catherine Bergs, Petar Bezhoski, Mikaela Christianson, Marissa Ellenbecker, Kaleb Hafferman, Caden Higgins, Bailey Imhoff, Blake Furger, Emolia Larson, Carson Lemmer and Tara Schilling.
The Senior Participation Award went to Kailee Davis, Marissa Ellenbecker, Teresa Hackel, Kaleb Hafferman, Caden Higgins, Ethan Heil, Bailey Imhoff, Austin Miller, McKenna Schraufnagel, Dakota Stahel and Mason Stoudt.
The Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards were presented to Kaleb Hafferman and Marissa Ellenbecker.
Students who completed one and two-year apprenticeships with local businesses include Ethan Heil, B & K Trucking/ Heil Ginseng; DEvin Jacobs, Edgar Schools IT; Heath Kavajecz, E.L.M.; Carson Lemmer, Green Acres Dairy; Austin Miller, MDM Dairy; Elliott Myszka, Dal-Ski Holsteins; Kennedy Butt, Edgar IGA; Jake Federwitz, E.L.M.; Bailey Imhoff, Copper Leaf; Ashton Mohr, UPS; Morgan Schilling, Copper Leaf.
