Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel, will hold its annual Christmas candy and bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Christmas concerts
Edgar Public School has announced Christmas concerts for K-12 and 4K students.
Concerts for K-12 students will all be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, in the school auditorium. The elementary concert is scheduled for noon followed by the middle school performance at 1:30 p.m. The high school concert is set for 7 p.m.
4K concerts will be held on Monday, Dec. 16. Monday and Wednesday students will perform at 7 p.m. The students in the Tuesday and Thursday group will have their concert at 6 p.m.
St. John’s Catholic School will hold it’s all-school Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 15, 1-3 p.m. A social will follow in the church dining hall.
Home School Huddle
Families can hear stories and participate in various activities related to the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math during Home School Huddle on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 1-2 p.m. at the Edgar Branch Public Library. Sessions are held every Tuesday through Dec. 17. Call 715-352-3155 for more information.
Toys for tots
E.L.M. Repair is hosting its tenth annual Toys for Tots toy drive. The business is collecting toys for children and teens living in Marathon County. You can drop off toys at E.L.M. from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Toys for Tots is a nonprofit organization looking for new, not used, unwrapped toys. Deadline for drop off is Friday, Dec. 6.
Socks and mittens
St. Stephen ELCA, Edgar, will again donate socks and mittens to the needy in the community. Donations of socks and mittens for all genders/ sizes/colors should be placed in the tubs in back of the church until Sunday, Dec. 15. These will be given to the Edgar/Marathon Circle of Joy on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Edgar Village Hall.
Book Club
The Edgar Book Club will discuss “Christmas Caramel Murder” by Joanne Fluke Thursday, Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Family adventure
The Edgar Branch Public Library will hold a Family Adventure Night to hear stories and make crafts involving the PBS “Wild Kratts” television show on Monday, Dec. 9, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Deer disposal
The Central Wisconsin Conservation Club Inc. will sponsor a dumpster for the disposal of deer carcass waste (rib cages, heads, legs and fat scrap) during the upcoming deer firearm season. The dumpster will be placed in the Edgar waste site located at the junction of Weinkauf and Willow Rd. There will also be a separate container placed there for unwanted deer hides which will be donated to the Lions Camp for the Blind. The dumpster will be placed there from Thursday, Nov. 21, through Monday, Dec. 2.
“This program is being done as a community service to help to keep our environment cleaner from improperly disposed waste in our rural ditches,” said club spokesman Jerry Karlen. “We ask that people respect our intentions and only use the dumpster for the waste that it is intended for so that this project can continue and grow in the future.”
