Debra “Deb” Ann Peissig


1965-2023 Debra “Deb” Ann Peissig, age 57, of Medford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 under the tender care of Hope Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Rev. Nancy Amacher will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Deb was born on April 20, 1965, the daughter of James and Mary Ann (Pabich) Hollman in Medford. She graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1983. On March 31, 2018, Deb was united in marriage to Barry Peissig. Deb owned Bogey’s Bar in Medford for 23 years. She also was a huge animal lover and had a passion for helping find lost animals. Deb was a member of the Critter Cruise and was a Found Dog Case Worker. She helped raise money for animal shelters and humane societies. Deb will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Deb is survived by her husband, Barry; her son, Tyler Oleson (Natasha Wright) of Wausau; three step-children, David Peissig (Alexis) of Medford, Dakota Peissig (Michael) of Medford and Dustin (Sheree) Peissig of Edgar; four grandchildren, Zarianna, Zeagan, Azyven and Junior. She is further survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mary Ann; her daughter, Shawna Oleson and two brothers, Mitchell and Craig Hollman. George Francis Blomberg

George Francis Blomberg


1940-2022 George Francis Blomberg, 82, of Ogema, Wis., completed his earthly journey on Dec. 21, 2022, at Aspirus Hospital of Wausau, Wis. A celebration of George’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at the Ogema Baptist Church, W5091 State Road 86, Ogema, WI 54459. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m., a luncheon will follow the service. George “Stub” was born April 16, 1940, in Ogema, Wis., to the late George and Lillian Blomberg. He was the youngest of 14 children. George completed his high school education at Rib Lake High School in 1958. He spent two years with a traveling gospel team, where he met his future wife. George attended Bethel College in Minn., and at the age of 23 married Hope Sundeen of Cook, Minn. George worked for a trucking company while attending River Falls State College and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Agriculture Science Education and Industrial Arts. For 15 years he and Hope made their home in Barron, Wis., where they raised their four children and were active in their church and community. During that time George taught agriculture at the high school and college levels and owned and operated farm equipment and construction businesses. In 1985, George and Hope moved to the Ashland area where he once again taught high school and college level agriculture, and where they helped start Grace Bible Fellowship, a church in Washburn, Wis.. In 2000, they moved back to Ogema and have since made their home in the original Blomberg homestead, hosting yearly family reunions. While in Ogema, George was also active serving his community as part of several town boards and committees as well as the Wisconsin Farm Bureau. George was a man who loved Jesus from an early age and was a living example of God’s love and generosity. His children were blessed beyond measure to have had the benefit of his and their mom’s strong guidance. George lived a full life, often enjoying camping, hunting, fishing, serving others, singing, teaching, and regular involvement in his church. He left an imprint on the lives of so many, living and guiding with wisdom and kindness. He was a man of faith, and he loved his family well. George also loved his country and was a staunch supporter of our constitution and military. George is survived by Hope, his wife of 59-1/2 years; his four children: Keven (Laura) of Ogema, Wis.; Jim (Kristal) of Bryant, Wis.; Keith (Billie) of Durham, N.C.; and Jodi (Kevin) of Negaunee, Mich.; 14 grandchildren (plus seven spouses) and 16 greatgrandchildren, as well as two siblings, Lyle Blomberg and Edythe Gravley. Betty Lou Meschefske


1930-2022 Betty Lou Meschefske, 92, of Marshfield, formerly of Medford, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford, Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiated the service. She will be laid to rest at a later date at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Betty was born April 24, 1930 in the town of Goodrich to Albin and Dora (Marschner) Borman. She grew up in Goodrich and graduated from Medford High School, class of 1947. She then attended teacher’s college earning her teaching certificate. She taught at the Washington (one-room) school, which now sits at the Taylor County Fairgrounds. On June 3, 1950, she married Clyde E. Meschefske in Goodrich. They resided in the town of Deer Creek where they owned and operated a dairy farm. In 1981, Betty and Clyde retired and sold the farm to their son, Randy and his wife, Karen. Betty was a member of the local homemaker’s club, the Zion Lutheran Mission Circle and the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, vegetable gardening, canning, writing poems, making maple syrup, and most of all, visiting and hosting guests and her family. She is survived by a son, Randy (Karen) Meschefske of Stetsonville; daughter, Doris (Doug) Beisner of Wausau; six grandchildren, Deb (Cory) Mudgett of Stetsonville, Pete (Heather) Meschefske, Matt (Sheree) Meschefske, all of Wausau, Marc (Cassie) Meschefske of Medford, Megan (Dexter) DePasse, Katelyn Beisner, all of Wausau; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde on Jan. 1, 2003; brothers, Albin Borman in infancy, Ken (Jean) Borman, Glen (Idella) Borman; sisters, Carrie Mae (John) Meschefske and Annabelle Roeber; and a daughter, Debra Sue Meschefske. Daniel F. Lind

Daniel F. Lind


1950-2022 Daniel F. Lind, age 72, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2022, at his home in Rib Lake, Wis., surrounded by family after a four year journey with cancer. A visitation for Daniel will take place on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at Woodland Community Church from 4-7 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 prior to the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life with Pastor Bryan Regier. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit, Wis. Pallbearers are Brad Borchardt, Randy Erickson, Todd Henderson, Ray Lind, Bryan Marschke, and Kyle Thums. Daniel was born in Tomahawk, Wis. on July 8, 1950; the fifth of seven children to Roy and Agnes Lind. He grew up in Spirit, Wis. and was a 1968 graduate of Rib Lake High School. In 1970, he graduated from Taylor County Teacher’s College and taught at Elk Mound for three years. He worked construction until 1980 when he started his 32 year postal career with the USPS in Phillips (3 years), Brantwood (3 years), and Rib Lake (26 years). On Aug. 12, 1978, Daniel married the love of his life, Jean Hebda, in Rib Lake. In his younger days, he was an avid softball player and took his Harley on many long rides. While they raised four children, he was actively involved and enjoyed passing his love of sports onto them. As his children grew, he not only coached many teams, he was also an AWANA leader and head usher at Woodland and involved in the Rib Lake Booster Club. He was blessed with many opportunities to go camping, hunting, riding wheelers, and traveling, which included a road trip to Alaska. His passion for the Dallas Cowboys is now carried on by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Lind, of Rib Lake; four children, Gabe (Kelly) Lind of Phillips, Bonnie Johnson of Circle Pines, Minn., Aimee (Dan) Vechart and Trevor (Tera) Lind both of Appleton; four brothers, Darrel (Luann) Lind, Duane (Joyce) Lind, Dennis (Deb) Lind, and Dave (Donna) Lind and two sisters, Donna Stolhammer and Diane Kruit; grandchildren, Dylon (Katelynn), Tyler, Hunter, Spencer, Parker, Owen, Jake, Hannah, and Finn; and in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; inlaws, Stanley and Dorothy Hebda; and two brothersin-law, Tom Hebda and Don Stolhammer. The family would like to thank Dr. Peterson and his team at Aspirus Cancer Center for their care and appreciate the personal touch that made him feel like more than just a patient. They would also like to thank Hope Hospice for the care they provided in his final days. 1936-2023 Fern A. Dassow, 86, Medford went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, Jan. 3, 2023, while under the care of Aspirus Hospice Services of Wausau. Her service will be at First Baptist Church, Medford, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery 2. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Fern was born April 1, 1936 in Athens. The daughter of Edward and Ellen (Kautzer) Valenta. She attended country schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1955. She married Marvin Dassow in 1957 and together they had six children, Cindy, Dawn, Vicki, Tamara, Terrance, and Jodi. As a young teenager, she received Christ as her Savior and served many years in youth work, choir, AWANA, and many other activities at Goodrich Community Church. She moved to Merrill in 1972 and worked six years at the Weinbrenner Shoe Company. Later, when she moved to Medford she worked 32 years for Weathershield where she retired. Fern loved to be outdoors and enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and lawn. She also enjoyed the birds and other wildlife around her home. Fern was an avid NASCAR, college and professional football fan. Fern was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ellen Valenta and the father of her children. She is survived by her sister, Grace (Roger) Grebe; and children, Cindy (Tony) Inda, Dawn (Stuart) Mikul, Vicki Dassow, Tamara (David) Miga, Terrance (Yvonne) Dassow, and Jodi (Mark) Landry. 1973-2022 Troy A. Hatlestad, age 49, of Withee, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 2 p.m. until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Troy was born on July 4, 1973, the son of David and Charlotte (Kell) Hatlestad in Marshfield. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1991. Troy attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, earning an Associate Degree. He worked for the Village of Withee for 30 years with the Public Works department, including 12 years as the director. On May 23, 1998, Troy was united in marriage to Jona Knittle at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Together they have two twin daughters, Kyan and Tegan, who he loves and treasures. Troy enjoyed hunting with his friends and brother, Todd. They took many hunting trips for big game, including cougars and elk out west and also boar hunting in Michigan. He also enjoyed golfing, archery, softball and traveling. Troy was a member of the Owen-Withee Lions Club and the Boomtown Chasers Snowmobiling Club from Curtiss. He will be most remembered for loving life and his infectious laugh and smile. Troy is survived by his wife, Jona; two daughters, Kyan and Tegan; his parents, David and Charlotte Hatlestad of Withee; two siblings, Todd (Christie) Hatlestad and Tanya (Bill) Ovyn both of Withee; six nieces and nephews, Ashley (Jesse) Jones, Andrew (Andrea) Cherney, Christopher (Sarah) Hatlestad, Spencer Hatlestad (Natasha), Jake (Ari) Ovyn and Haley (Charlie) Pogodzinski; his mother-in-law, Doris Lund of Owen; other relatives and friends. Robert John Biermann

Robert John Biermann


1951-2022 Robert John Biermann, 71, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2022, at his home in Ogema surrounded by his family. He was born to Donald (Wayne) and Sara “Sally” (Bruner) Biermann on March 6, 1951, in Phillips. JohngrewupinOgema, and was a 1970 graduate of Prentice High School. Following graduation, he explored a few work options before he found his calling of carpentry work. He was employed by Wanke Builders of Medford in 1970 and worked there until his retirement. John married the love of his life, Darcy, on May 8, 1976. Together they built their home in Ogema. John took great pride in building his bride a new home. John was a gifted wood worker and made several pieces for his wife, children, grandchildren and many families and friends. These pieces will be cherished for years to come. John loved to serve his community, and since 1983, he was a volunteer fireman for the Ogema Volunteer Fire Department. During this time, he served as both Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. John was an avid hunter, and what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family and friends during these hunting excursions. He enjoyed taking his grandkids Kylie and Luke to sit in grandpa’s nice warm hunting shack that he built. He took several hunting trips to Colorado that he shared with his son and son-in-law. John enjoyed the companionship of his special dog, “Auggie -Doggie” who made almost every trip with him during his treatments. Prior to coming home from the hospital, he shared that he had “a good life” he also used one of his famous quotes of “it could be worse.” John lived his life that way and looked at what he was thankful for, knowing and trusting in his faith that he would have eternal life with his Creator. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prentice. He is survived by his wife, Darcy Biermann; children, Jesse (Shelby) Biermann of Ogema, and Bobbie Jo (Ben) Orysen of Prentice; grandchildren, Kylie and Luke Orysen; siblings, Peggy (Robert) Pinsch of Medford and Liz (Mike) Mertens of Stanley; sister-inlaw, Eileen Biermann of Rib Lake; several nieces and nephews; and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Wayne Biermann; and brother, Donald Biermann. Delmar Shayne Stockwell


1971-2022 Delmar Shayne Stockwell, age 51 passed away on Dec. 24, 2022 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, OH. A funeral service for Delmar will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 at RJ Stockwell Land & Auction Co. N155 Hwy 13, Dorchester, WI 54425. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will take place at RJ Stockwell Land & Auction Co. from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Delmar was born in Medford on May 10, 1971, the eighth child of Wilbur and Audrey (Brunner) Stockwell. After his mother Audrey passed away in 1974 his father remarried and he was lovingly raised by his stepmother Myrtle (Krisher) Stockwell. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1989. Delmar was interested and skilled with computers. He attended Madison Area Technical School in Madison. He worked for The Boss Industries in Madison for several years. Delmar made his choice at a young age to serve the Lord and later was called to serve in the ministry. In January 1995 he began work in the ministry in South Carolina. He later labored in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Despite several health challenges, Delmar remained committed to the work of sharing the Gospel for the love of the souls of all. Delmar is survived by five brothers and one sister, Alan (Pam) of Winona, Minn., Randy (Beaner) of Dorchester, Jeannine (Louie) Orlando of Mount Pleasant, Brian (Julie) of Jamestown, N.D., Steve (Pearl) of Milnor, N.D., Doug (Brenda ) of Clearwater, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mary Stockwell of Mount Pleasant; uncle, Fred Griswold of Beaver Dam; and special cousins, Janice (Rick) Robinson and Jane (Syd) Behm who were similar in age and like sisters to him. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Delmar loved his natural family but he often referred to those he lived and worked among as his family. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Bruce. The family wishes to thank all of his friends and coworkers who stood by and assisted and encouraged him to continue despite his declining health.
