Mildred “Millie” Ruth Rudolph


1926-2019 Mildred “Millie” Ruth Rudolph, age 93, was taken to her heavenly home on Dec. 20, 2019. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden on Fri., Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. Rev. Kenneth Lahners will officiate. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Medford at a later date. Millie was born Oct. 10, 1926 in the town of Hill, Ogema, Wis. to Mauno and Lempi (Muhonen) Niemi. Millie grew up in the town of Hill, working beside her parents on the family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ogema. She attended Leavitt Creek Grade School and graduated in 1944 from Westboro High School. After graduation she worked in the payroll department at Rayovac in Madison. After one year in Madison, she returned home to Ogema to help on the family farm. Later, she moved to Medford to work at the Medford State Bank, working there for several years as a bank teller before retiring. On May 28, 1954, Millie married William “Bill” Rudolph, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ogema. Together they ran Rudolph’s Standard Station for many years. A son was born to them on May 2, 1956, named William Herman Rudolph Jr. He was their pride and joy, losing his life to an illness at the very young age of 21. In 1976, Millie and Bill moved to Cayuga, where they retired and built a cabin on their own from the ground up. There they fished, hunted and enjoyed nature and welcomed many friends and relatives as visitors. They lived off the land. During this time, they also took many trips to Canada for fishing and camping. That was what they really enjoyed. Millie was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden and was a church organist and pianist for many years. After Bill’s death, Millie lived in Cayuga for two years before moving to the Hillside Village apartment in Glidden for two years. Later she moved to the Waterford in Park Falls, where she resided until her death with the care of Hospice. Mildred is survived by two sisters, Lillian Miller of Oshkosh and Kathleen (John) Kloehn of Minocqua; a brother-in-law, Robert (Janice) Werner of Marshfield; two nephews, Randy (Sue Ellen) Miller and Alan (Trina) Kloehn; two nieces, Vanessa (Allen) Frederick and Shelly (John) Antoniewicz; six greatnieces, Fiona Frederick, Hannah Kloehn, Elizabeth Kloehn, Alyssa Antoniewicz, Kira Frederick and Abigail Kloehn; three great-nephews, Dalen Frederick, Matthew Kloehn, Ian Antoniewicz and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, her son William Jr., and her brothers- in-law James Miller, Roy Rudolph, and Melvin Rudolph. John Peterson

1933-2019 John Peterson, 86, of Jump River, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at Rib Lake Health Services. A celebration of life service will be held at the Gilman Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Nebo Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 29 from 2-5 p.m. and on Monday morning one hour prior to services. John was born on April 24, 1933 to Emily and Emmanuel Petersen in Partington, England. He came to the United States as an infant and was raised on the family farm in Jump River. He graduated from Hannibal High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served dutifully for 22 years. He was stationed at many bases during his career, but his favorite was Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. He retired as a master sergeant in 1973 and moved his family back to Jump River where he resided for the remainder of his life. John married the love of his life, Margaret Benning, on June 7, 1958. Together they raised six children. He was a wonderful husband, father and provider that loved his family passionately. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. John had many passions in life. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was baseball. He was a pitcher in high school and went on to play semi pro. He loved the Minnesota Twins and never missed a game. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marge; and his six children, Bob Peterson of Jump River, Mike Peterson of Gilman, Richard Peterson of Medford, Sandy (Ed) Anderson of Camano Island, Wash., Nancy Kadlec of Eau Claire and Judy (Tim) Kolecheck of Boyd. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim, and his best friend, Wally Shepherd. Gene H. Ridderbush

Gene H. Ridderbush


1928-2019 Gene H. Ridderbush, 91, of Colby, passed away while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at The Waterford in Colby. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Rev. Mark Neumann officiating. Family and friends were invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Private committal services will be held at a later time. Gene’s pallbearers were Michael, Steve and Matthew Johnson, John and Bryan Beck and Michael Perkins. His honorary pallbearer was Christopher Brecke. Gene was born on April 10, 1928 in the town of Holton, the son of Herman and Viola (Johnson) Ridderbush. He attended Pine Valley Country School in Deer Creek. On Feb. 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mae Belle Bremer at the Community Evangelical Church in Medford. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Abbotsford while raising their five children. Gene’s hobbies included tending and caring for flowers and vegetables for a local greenhouse as well as caring for his own vegetables and beautiful flowers of every kind. He was always willing to help neighbor farmers with tractor work. His children remember their dad spending time and playing with them “in between chores of course”. Gene and Mae also enjoyed traveling together. Gene is lovingly survived by his five children, Dennis Ridderbush of Mobile, Ala., Lynn (Dan) Beck of Phillips, Sherry (Dennis) Johnson of Abbotsford, Pamela (Kenneth) Geiger of Dorchester and Lori (Chris) Perkins of Athens; his 11 grandchildren, Mike Johnson, John Beck, Steve Johnson, Bryan Beck, Christene Burg, Matthew Johnson, Jenny Beck, Christopher Brecke, Stephanie Brecke, Michael Perkins and Brittany Perkins; and his 12 great-grandchildren, Megan and Nicole Beck, Olivia and Garrett Burg, Abby, Stella and Natalie Beck, Madisen Johnson, Austin, Zayla and Zenley Johnson and Jackson Perkins along with other relatives and friends. George E. Daniels

George E. Daniels


1934-2019 George E. Daniels, 85, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at Rib Lake Health Services, surrounded by family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. A funeral mass took place on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial followed at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation took place on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Military honors were performed by Stetsonville American Legion Post No. 519. George was born on Aug. 20, 1934 to George and Margaret Daniels in Batavia, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He dedicated his life to law enforcement, most notably as a sergeant for the Wisconsin State Patrol. He married Nancy Rodefer on July 26, 1958 and she survives. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Stetsonville American Legion No. 519 and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Gwenn (Ted) Bever of Mountain Home Ark., Bill (Suzy) Daniels of Park Falls, Bruce (Angela) Daniels and Ray (Ashlie) Daniels, both of Medford; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Ray Daniels of Mauston. He is further survived by many other friends and family. George was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Margaret Griffin and Goldie Cooley.
