LeRoy Lang LeRoy Lang

LeRoy I. Lang, age 85, of Wausau, formerly of Marathon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau while under the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice.

He was born on May 21, 1941, the son of Ignatz and Margaret (Dalske) Lang. Born and raised in the Town of Cassel, he graduated from Marathon High School and developed the strong work ethic and values that would guide him throughout his life.

On October 24, 1964, LeRoy married the love of his life, Janice Kummerow, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Marathon City. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage, raising their family and building a life centered on faith, hard work and love, until Janice's passing on June 17, 2023.

Farming was never just a career for LeRoy—it was his way of life. He proudly farmed his entire life, owning and operating the homestead farm with dedication, perseverance and pride. He found great satisfaction in caring for the land and livestock and in continuing the traditions of rural life. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Town of Cassel and formerly belonged to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Marathon City.

In his free time, LeRoy enjoyed bowling and valued the friendships he made through the sport. Hunting season was always something he looked forward to, and he loved spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed snowmobiling during the Wisconsin winters and attending tractor pulls, where he appreciated both the competition and the machinery. Above all, he treasured spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter and memories whenever they gathered. He was our beloved family and community historian.

LeRoy’s legacy lives on through his children: Daniel (Laura) Lang of Wausau, Craig (Christine) Lang of Edgar, Jodi (Dennis) Hinderliter of Marathon and Joanne (Joe) Schreier of Edgar; his grandchildren: Nicole (Tom) Thorson, Cody Lang, Miranda Lang, Heather (Chris) Guden, Heidi (Taran) Brodziski, Breanna (Tyler) Socha, Bret (Amanda) Murkowski, Shauna (Tom) Szymanski, Becca Hinderliter, George (Brooke) Hinderliter, Oscar Hinderliter and Lucas Schreier; his great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Henry, Isabelle, Amelia, Ivan, Emmett, Landon, Wren, Charlotte, Levi, Briggs, Briar and Emersyn; his sister, Ruth (Harold) Butalla of Marathon; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Lang of Wausau; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
