Francis Klimek
Francis “Frank” A. Klimek, age 78, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at his home under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.
A prayer service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Pastor Marvin Penick presided. Interment followed at Colby Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. Family and friends gathered from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home Frank was born on May 20, 1947, the son of Frank and Stephanie (Gurak) Klimek in Chicago, 111. He graduated from high school and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968-70. Frank also attended technical school, studying electronics for three years. He worked as a machinist and then moved and bought a farm in the Town of Colby 35 years ago.
Frank was a member of the Restoring Hope Church in Abbotsford and a member of the Colby VFW Post #2227. He enjoyed astronomy, electronics and recently tried planting tobacco.
Frank is survived by three siblings: Karen (Tom) Quant of Janesville, Charles Klimek of Arkansas and Mark (Lisa) Klimek of Bolingbrook, 111. He is further survived by five nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
