Josafat Leon Vargas
Josafat Leon Vargas, age 53, of Abbotsford, died on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Family and friends are welcome to greet the family from 3 p.m. until the time of the services.
Josafat was born on November 11, 1972, in Guerrero, Mexico. He was united in marriage to Irene Andrade Ortiz. Josafat worked at Weather Shield in Medford.
Josafat was a very kind, caring and generous man. Despite a hard upbringing, his life changed when he turned to Christ, and he became the life of our home. He always brought light into our lives and was truly an excellent person. Josafat cared more about helping others than what he could receive in return. He never hesitated to go out of his way to lend a helping hand, and his selflessness touched everyone who knew him.
Josafat was a role model to many and a great example of a disciple of Christ. He leaves behind a huge void in many of our lives. The light he brought to us has joined us together and now lives in us. I know many of you have been ofFering and asking how you can help monetarily, and I have provided a link below. If you wish to show support to his family, any amount is appreciated. Thank you, and let his memory live on! https://gofund.me/1653b581e Josafat is survived by his wife, Irene; three children: Jenyfer (Nabor) Leon in Mexico, Yesenia (Aldo) Leon in Spencer and Aaron Leon in Abbotsford; three grandchildren: Abdiel (age 5), Lluvia (age 4) and Kehlani (age 1). He is further survived by his siblings: Soledad (Marco), Abelardo (Leonor) and Ina (Javier); a sister-in-law, Sabina; nieces, nephews, a great-niece, Flor; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lucio.
