Franklin Walters
Franklin “Frank” J. Walters, 86, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born February 4,1940, in Edgar, son of the late Frank and Mildred (Borchardt) Walters. On May 26,1962, he married Carol Hamann in Edgar and she preceded him in death on May 2, 1993. On June 16, 2000, he married Judy Grabau (Madison) in Wausau.
Frank dedicated more than 75 years of his life to his craft as a carpenter, mastering every aspect of home construction from roofing to plumbing, electrical work, and general handyman projects. His skill and work ethic left a lasting mark on countless homes and buildings. Frank seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He had a genuine gift for connecting with others and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Outside of his work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved being outdoors, enjoying a campfire or tending to his yard, especially his flowers. He traveled to 35 states and into Canada, and also enjoyed many casino trips.
Frank was a devoted fan of the Packers, Brewers and NASCAR, and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He cherished time spent with family and friends, whether playing a competitive game of Sheepshead, making Christmas candy, decorating cutout cookies, or mixing up his signature grasshopper drinks. Never missed a Friday night fish fry with a brandy old fashioned.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Walters; children: Rick (Christine) Walters, Randall (Julia) Walters and Steven (Debi) Walters; grandchildren: Kelsey (Dylan) Swords, Allyson (Joey) Hnath, Mason (Shannon) Walters, Emilee (Sean) Anderson and Braden Walters; greatgrandchildren: Noah Hnath, Maverik and Rhett Walters and Logan Anderson, and brothers: Gary (Betty) Walters, Greg Walters and LaRon (Julie) Walters.
Besides his parents and wife, Carol, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Doug (Mary) Walters and a granddaughter, Liliana Walters.
