Theodore “Ted” Casper Arneson


Theodore “Ted” Casper Arneson, 95, Cadott, passed away peacefully, Aug. 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Ted was born Oct. 24, 1929, to Casper and Karen (Shervey) Arneson, in Chippewa County.
He married the love of his life, LaVern Kunz, July 25, 1951, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott.
Ted, as he was affectionately known, began his work career at 13 years old. He farmed for his sister, Edna, and her husband, Art Gerber, in Cadott.
Then, Ted and LaVern farmed at his childhood home in Cadott. He also worked as a mason and a bricklayer.
They moved into the Village of Cadott, in 1964.
The next adventure for Ted and LaVern, was Ted’s Coffee Cup, which they ran from 1967-72; after the Coffee Cup, they had the Trustworthy Hardware Store, first in Cadott, then in Boyd, for a span of 23 years.
Ted was dedicated to serving the community of Cadott. He wore many hats: he was a volunteer firefighter, volunteer EMT, school bus driver, Brooklawn Cemetery Board member, Cadott Village Board member and was on the Chamber of Commerce His enjoyment in life, was being an avid deer hunter, from 1951 to 2024. He hunted with many different family members. Ted and LaVern enjoyed bowling, traveling and camping together.
He was famous for his wood-fired chicken. After retirement, they spent many winters in Florida, with his relatives.
Ted will always be remembered for his good sense of humor. Also, he always made time to help others out, when needed and was liked by everyone.
He will be forever cherished by his surviving family, his wife – LaVern, of 74 years; three sons – Ken Arneson, Ron (Barb) Arneson and Gordy (Terri) Arneson; two daughters – Bonita (Dick) Mickelson and Debbie (Skip) Greene; grandchildren – Troy (Lisa) Arneson, Tracy (Seon) Schnell, Eric (Kim) Mickelson, Tim (Hillary) Mickelson, Jeremy (Amy) Mickelson, Heather (Charlie) Richards, Dan (Laura) Greene, Heather (Jonathan) Van de Hei and Alex Arneson; nine great-grandchildren; several bonus great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one due in September; his sister – Carol Patchak; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Pamela, in infancy; brothers – Alexander, Edward and Casper (Faye) Arneson; sisters – Ann, in infancy, Gladys (John) Kolpien, Edna (Art) Gerber, Margaret (Wayne) Sommerfeld and Dorothy (Mervil) Arneson; brother-inlaw – Mike Patchak; grandson – Kenneth Arneson Jr.; granddaughter-in-law – BJ (Evjen) Mickelson; and greatgrandson – Andruw Paul Mickelson.
A celebration of life for Ted is Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cadott Lions Club pavilion, in East Riverview Park in Cadott. Inurnment will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott, at a later date.
Per Ted’s wishes, the family requests that no flowers be sent.
