Verna J. Miller


Verna J. Miller, 96, Cornell, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at her home.
Born in Cornell, March 5, 1925, Verna was the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Couture) Blanchard.
After graduating from Cornell High School, she married Gerald βJellyβ Miller Aug. 17, 1946, in Boyd.
She lived her life in Cornell, as a wife and homemaker.
Verna loved her Catholic faith and lived it by serving her church as a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and taught CCD for over 30 years. She was also chief election clerk for the City of Cornell, and member of the Cornell American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son β Roger (Susan) Miller, Salem, Ala.; three daughters β Jane Miller, Cornell, Laura (Dwayne) Mosley, Cornell, and Lisa (Drew) Magnuson, Hudson; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother β Ken Blanchard, Port Washington, and a sister-in-law β Richard (Jane) Blanchard, Florida.
She was proceeded in death by her husband β Gerald Miller; her parents β Thomas and Anna Blanchard; her sisters β Eleanor Hodowanic and Dorothy Peare; and her brothers β Leonard, Richard and Ellsworth Blanchard.
Verna was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Interment was in the Cornell Cemetery.
Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., Monday morning, at the church.
