Timothy “Tim” Paul Hakes


Timothy “Tim” Paul Hakes, 58, Stanley, formerly of Cornell, passed away unexpectedly in his home, Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Timothy was born the youngest of eight, to Kenneth and Gwendolyn (McGinnis) Hakes, Feb. 13, 1963, in Bloomer Hospital.
He was raised in Cornell, and attended Cornell Schools. He worked on his family farm, before becoming a semi-truck driver for 14 years. After driving semi, Tim owned his own construction business for several years.
He worked at Northern Clearing, across the United States, for the last 15 years or so, until his passing. He was a respected operator for the company and will be missed greatly by his crew. Tim met many wonderful friends through his work and travels.
Tim was an avid fan of John Wayne. He liked country and rock music, loved the outdoors and he was very excited about the garden he had recently planted. Tim was a hardworking man and a very skilled woodworker.
He is survived by the mother of his children – Shauna Flood; children – Jesse Wolfe, Chelsy Helland, Aleshia (Christopher) Hetchler, Jonathan (Chevy) Hakes and Sharlene Hakes; his grandchildren – Natalya (Matt) Bartelt, Aleah Popowich, Raith Hetchler, Victor Hetchler, Alexaria Hetchler and Annabelle Miller; his mother – Gwendolyn Hakes; his siblings – Kathleen (James) Dembinski, Donna (Paul) Scott, Thomas (Mary) Hakes, Richard (Sonia) Hakes, Patricia (William) White and Randolph (Sue) Hakes; sisterin- law – Elaine Hakes; special nephews – Marshall (Cari) Hakes, Bill (Shelly) White, Josh (Sara) White and Nathan (Heather) White; great-nephew – Dominique Hall; many nephews; nieces and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father – Kenneth Hakes Sr.; his uncle – Chester Hakes; his brother – Kenneth Hakes Jr.; his brother-in-law – John Dembinski; his nephew – Chad Dembinski; and life-long best friend – Mark Hall.
Services were held Saturday, June 26, at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell. There was a memorial visitation from noon to 3 p.m. A formal service started at 3 p.m., with Pastor Rob Gerber officiating.
Inurnment followed at the Estella Cemetery. There was a luncheon following the cemetery services, at the Cornell American Legion Hall.
Borton-Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cornell, assisted the family with services.

Timothy leaves behind a large family, many co-workers and many friends, who loved him and will miss him dearly.
