Edgar “Ed” Otto Weck, 78, Cornell, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, at his home. Ed was born Feb. 23, 1942, the son of Ernst and Erna (Schulze), in Zahna, Germany. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1967-69, serving in Korea. Edgar was united in marriage to Christy L. Sime July 25, 1998, in Cornell. He was employed at White Bear Water Ski for five years, Reynolds Aluminum and NSP/Xcel Energy for 31 years, as a hydro operator, retiring in August 2001, from the Holcombe plant. Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, bird watching and painting. He is survived by his wife – Christy; children – Anthony Lee Weck, Paul Edward Weck and Julie Marie (Frank) Coon; stepson – Andrew Michael Stoker; brothers – Ernest Weck, Wolfgang (Zora) Weck, Reinhard (Karen) Alexejew and Siegfried (Patti) Von Willard; sister – Inga Alexejew Tomasino; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father – Ernst Weck; mother – Erna; and sister – Johanna Alexejew. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, with the Rev. Andy Schottelkorb officiating, at the Yellow River Cemetery, Town of Colburn, with military honors conducted by the Cornell American Legion. Luncheon will follow at the Colburn Town Hall. Social distancing and masks are advised. Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, is assisting the family.
