Irene Evelyn Ryan


Irene Evelyn Ryan, 90, passed away peacefully at Care Partners in Altoona, Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, who devotedly cared for and supported her through her end of life.
Irene was born Jan. 7, 1930, to Bernard and Mary (Rothbauer) Stifter, in rural Colfax.
Her family moved to Cadott, during her childhood years.
Irene married Howard J.
Ryan May 15, 1948, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. They lived and farmed in the Town of Sigel. She was employed at Chippewa Shoe Company for 20 years.
She was a kind, loving woman, with a big heart; she took pleasure in gardening and growing flowers of all kinds. She raised many furry pets and feathered friends, she loved animals.
Her best role was being a mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Irene loved taking pictures, playing music, singing and dancing, making each day spent with them special and fun. They will treasure their memories of her.
She is survived by one son – James (Joyce) Ryan, Chippewa Falls; two daughters – Ruth Ann Ryan, Altoona, and Deb (Roland) Boehlke, Cadott; grandsons – Travis (Tara) Ryan and Nicolas Ryan, of South Carolina; great-grandchildren – Desiree, Joslyn, Devan, Damien and Arya; one sister – Dorothy Dressel, Cadott; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband – Howard; one son – David Ryan; one brother – Donald Stifter; two sisters – Marie and Junior Raether, and Bernadine and Bud Ybema; and a brother-in-law – Harold Dressel. A public graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Town of Sigel, with Deacon Ned Willkom officiating.
A celebration of life will be at Halfway Hall in Cadott, immediately following the graveside service.
