Shirley Mae Werner

Shirley Mae Werner, age 98, of Medford, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1928 in Two Rivers, the daughter of Victor and Erma Wetzel. She graduated from Medford Senior High in 1946.

Shirley worked at her father’s grocery store, her uncle’s Ben Franklin store, the County Office, and later in the offices of the Medford Clinic.

She married Dick Werner on April 22, 1950 at Holy Rosary in Medford. They enjoyed 76 years of marriage. Shirley and Dick were blessed with four children, Michael, Nancy, Jane, and Julie.

Shirley enjoyed painting with oils, golfing, gardening, and spending time with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She and Dick wintered in Florida, Texas, and Arizona and traveled to many places both

overseas and throughout the United States.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dick; their four children, Michael (Sheila) Werner, Nancy (Rick) Stamm, Jane (Barry) Werner, Julie (Dennis) Scheibe; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant son, brother, Vernon Wetzel; sister, Pat Antil; and great-grandson, Maxwell.

The family would like to thank Cedar Lane Apartments for their care during her stay there.

A memorial service for Shirley will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 at Holy Rosary CAtholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
