Robert M. Ness

1930-2026

Robert M. Ness, 96, of Colby, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026 at The Waterford at Colby while under the care of Moments Hospice.

He was born Sept. 30, 1930 in Stanley to Christopher and Gladys (McKee) Ness. He was raised on the family farm in the town of Taft, Taylor County and graduated from Gilman High School in 1948.

In 1965, he purchased his family’s farm and also married Joy Kubishak. Joy had three children from a previous marriage, and together Bob and Joy added two more sons. The couple later divorced and sold the farm to Joy’s son, Phil.

Bob then married Dorothy “Joan” (nee Hirt) Oehler in 1998, and they resided in Medford. For 10+ years they were snowbirds, migrating to Texas every winter where they enjoyed living in a senior camper community; first in New Braunfels and then in Raymondville. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by his children, Ken Ness, Kurt (Stella) Ness, Philip (Paulette) Kubishak, Mark (Kim) Kubishak, Lisa (Larry) Bauer, Julie (Wade) Cullen, Jane (David) Handel, Jerold Oehler, Jill Liebergen, Jodi (Mark) Johnson, James Oehler (Jennifer Deenik); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joan on May 28, 2026; and siblings, Edith Ness, Erwin Ness and Glendora Baker.

As per Bob’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Organization.
