Margaret M. Zimmerman, age 96, of Marshfield, formerly of Loyal and Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Wells Nature View in Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Margaret Marie Herdrich was born on Aug. 9, 1929, in the town of Beaver, rural Loyal, the daughter of Reno F. and Elsie A. (Luchterhand) Herdrich. She was raised on the family farm, attended Beaver School, and graduated from Loyal High School in 1946. While in high school, she started working in the office of the John Wuethrich Creamery Company in Greenwood, and continued working there part-time until 1953. Margaret was united in marriage to Leonard J. Kollmansberger on May 20, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. In 1953, she became office manager for the Spencer Milk Products Company in Spencer, a division of M&M’s Candies, which was sold to Dairy Belt Cheese Company in 1959. In 1964, Land O’Lakes Inc. purchased Dairy Belt Cheese Company and Margaret became the executive secretary for the Spencer Cheese Division of Land O’Lakes Inc. During these years, she took various courses at technical schools in Marshfield and Spencer, receiving her certified professional secretary degree in 1978. Margaret took early retirement in 1989, and continued to maintain the bookkeeping for Lennie’s Sales of Loyal, and also Packaging Parts Plus Inc. of Prentice. After her husband’s passing on April 22, 1993, she began working as the secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church in September 1994. Margaret married Franklin H. Zimmerman on April 29, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, and Franklin died on Dec. 19, 2001. She retired in 2004 and moved to Stratford, becoming an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, participating in Bible study and home visitations.

She had been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for many years and taking part in the choir, Bible study, and adult fellowship. She was president of the women’s group for five years, and enjoyed attending the synodal and national women’s conventions. Margaret held the treasurer’s position and was also president of the Marshfield Chapter of Professional Secretaries, Inc.

Over the years she enjoyed water-skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, dancing, traveling, gardening, various crafts, and spending time with family and friends.

Margaret is survived by three sons: James (Marge) Kollmansberger of Stratford, Lew (Rita) Kollmansberger of Holman, and Guy (Debbie) Kollmansberger of Prentice; one step-daughter-in-law, Cynthia Zimmerman of Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren: Roberta (Joshua) Kunzman of Rhinelander and Russell Kollmansberger of Marshfield; three great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Noah, and Hazel Kunzman of Rhinelander; three step-grandchildren: Steven Zimmerman of Littleton, Colo., and Aaron and Jamie Zimmerman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters-in-law: Janice Herdrich of Lodi, Calif., and Myra Seichter of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leonard and Franklin; one stepson, Dale Zimmerman; her sister and brother-in-law, Norma (Harold) Dahl; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Herdrich; her brother, Harold Herdrich; and her sister and brother-in-law, Veryl (Richard) Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Margaret’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
