1935-2026

Constance (Connie) Morarend, 90, of Waseca, Minn., went home to Jesus on March 20, 2026. Connie was born in Gilman on Sept. 26, 1935 to Clarence and Gladys Shufelt Miller. She grew up on a farm in the Gilman area with nine siblings and graduated from Gilman High School. After school, Connie married and farmed for several years. During that time, she had six children. She also waitressed at the truck stop in Stanley. In the early 70’s Connie moved to Marshfield where she worked at Weyerhaeuser Company for 18 years. Unfortunately, she had a major stroke that ended her being able to work after that.

Connie was a master at one-liner jokes. She loved to laugh, sing, dance, go fishing, do crossword puzzles, and play bingo. She was also a very kind, caring person. When someone was in need, she did all she could to help.

Connie is survived by six children, Suzanne Foss, of Albert Lea, Minn., Jesse Morarend, of Lublin, Jeffrey Morarend, of Watertown, Brenda (Thomas) Sanchez, of Reno, Nev., Gloria (Gary) Redders, of Palmyra, and Eric Morarend, of Waseca, Minn.; plus 10 grandchildren; and a whole slew of great and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Clarence (Connie) Miller, Merlin Miller, and John (Shirley) Miller; sisters, Francis Lefebvre, Ardella Walworth, Bonnie Perman, and Arliss Westerland.

In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Wollmer and brother, Richard Miller, and grandson, Kyle Redders.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gilman Park on July 11, 2026 at 12:30 p.m.
