Arlis E. Lageman
1935-2026
Arlis E. Lageman, 90, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at The Waterford at Colby, while under the care of Aspirus Hospice.
She was born May 28, 1935 in Stetsonville, to Albert and Elsie (Korth) Blasel. She graduated from Medford High School in 1953. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married Harold “Bud” Lageman. They resided in Whittlesey where Arlis continued to live for over 70 years and was living there until the last six months. She worked at Tombstone for 20 years, retiring in 1996. During her early married years, she worked seasonally at Bobbe Mink Ranch for Christmas money, and also cleaned houses.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid, and the Whittlesey Homemakers group. In her younger years Arlis enjoyed sewing, including baby blankets for each of her grandchildren. She also loved to dance and visit with friends and family.
Several years after Bud’s passing, she met Herb Meyers. Together, they shared many joyful adventures, traveling the country in Herb’s motorhome.
She is survived by her son, Ken Lageman of Whittlesey; daughter, Nancy (Smokey) Wiitala of Westboro; daughter-in-law, Karen Lageman of Whittlesey; a brother, Harry Blasel of Tomahawk; seven grandchildren, Randy (Melissa) Wiitala, Lucas (Tanya) Wiitala, Mallory (Brad) Kolecheck, Ben (Amber) Wiitala, Keith (Sara) Lageman, Kristy (Brian) Floyd, and Kelly Lageman; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Emmitt, Nora, Jack, Zander, Ivan, Hunter, Kenzie, Tyler and Austin; and four great-great-grandchildren, Amara, Balix, Kason, and Rhys; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud, in 1981; son, Steve Lageman, in 2022; brothers, Norman (Delores) and Melvin (Sylvia) Blasel; sister, Delores Kraus Smart; sister-in-law, Betty Reichert, infant granddaughter, Kathy, and special friend, Herb Meyers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, W5334 Dassow Ave., Medford with Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. She will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery after the service.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
