Arlene Mary Mashack

1928-2025

Arlene Mary Mashack, age 97, of Montello, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at the Markesan Resident Home. Arlene was born on July 9, 1928 to George and Mathilda (Prahl) Fleegel in Medford. She was the youngest of seven siblings and was very proud to graduate from Rib Lake High School in 1947. While working at Ripon College, Arlene met Stanley “Stosh” Mashack through mutual friends, and they married on Sept. 2, 1950 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello and together they remained devout members of that church for the rest of their lives. Stanley preceded Arlene in death on Aug. 1, 2014.

Arlene and Stanley shared a deep love for animals, always having a black labrador and “house kitties” on the farm in rural Montello. She worked at Montello Products (now Arimon) for well over 40 years, finally retiring in 2013 at the age of 85.

Arlene is survived by many nieces; nephews; and good friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Elvin “Al” Fleegel, Verna Dassow, Ervin Fleegel, George Fleegel, Ruth Judnic and Marion Dassow.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arlene Mashack was held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Savio Yerasani presided at and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
