Ray Halligan

Ray M. Halligan, age 84, formerly of Colby, passed away at the Mennonite Fellowship Home in Hagerstown, Md., on Friday, July 4, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1940, to Paul and Ethel Halligan. On June 13, 1959, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Reich. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2024. Together they had 11 children.

Survivors include his 10 children: Shirley (Thomas) Fowler of Union Bridge, Md., Suzanne Torkelson of Versailles, Mo., Steven (Verna) Halligan of Thompsontown, Penn., Sandra (Chris) Mack of Mulkeytown, 111., Samuel (Linda) Halligan of McLeansboro, 111, Sara (Marlin) Sensenig of Richland, Penn., Sidney (Sarah) Halligan of Athens, Sylvia Halligan of Athens, Stanley (Melanie) Halligan of Athens and Stella Halligan of Athens; 37 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven sisters: Elma Diem, Marie (Lavern) Hertzog, Lorraine Kofroth, Rhoda (Jay Paul) Martin, Marilyn (Richard) Mull, Elaine (Bob) Hibsman and Rheta (Larry) Sensenig; and one brotherin-law, Marvin Reich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann; one son, Seth; one son-in-law, Daniel Torkelson; his parents, Paul M. and Ethel Halligan; two brothers: Warren and Marvin Halligan; two brothers-in-law: Lloyd Diem and Larry Kofroth; and three sisters-in-law: Naomi Halligan, Mary Jane Fry and Debbie Reich.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Green Grove Mennonite Fellowship Center, north of Loyal, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, at Scenic Grove Mennonite Church, rural Loyal. Presiding will be local ministry.

Cuddie Funeral Home of Loyal is assisting the family with arrangements.
