Edward Hoffmann

Edward L. Hoffmann passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023, in his home.

Ed was born on January 15, 1944, to Lawrence Hoffmann and Gertrude (Klimpke) Hoffmann. He was one of three children and grew up on the family farm in the Town of Johnson, Marathon County. He attended the Silver Leaf School through the 8th grade and then entered the workforce, mainly in the construction trades. He worked for Berger Construction, helped run a farm for a time, S.D. Ellenbecker, Belanger Granite, and the Town of Johnson as a road maintenance operator. Ed was a hard worker and liked to help out his friends and family. He liked to tinker in the garage, welding and fabricating equipment for farming, gardening and construction.

In August of 1966, Ed married Theresa Weiler. They stayed married until Theresa passed away in February of 2020. They worked long and hard to make a life for themselves. During the first years of their marriage, Ed joined the National Guard and stayed in for six years. He was honorably discharged in March of 1971. He liked to have fun but preferred to get things done. Ed did enjoy hunting, fishing, going to auctions and traveling semilocally. He will be missed by many family, friends and acquaintances.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa. He is survived by their son, Brandon; a daughter-in-law, Lisa; a granddaughter, Alicia, and a grandson, William. He is also survived by a brother, Norbert; a sister, Margaret; a nephew, Lee; a niece, Lori, and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 23 at the Town of Johnson Town Hall from noon to 4 p.m. A meal will be served.
