Richard Edward Oberle, 84, passed away on July 22, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Vijay Kumar Madani officiating. Inurnment will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

He was born on June 4, 1939 to the late Leo and Imogene (Baker) Oberle. Richard grew up on a farm between Hannibal and Gilman and attended Hannibal School. He later graduated from Gilman High School in 1958. Richard worked in a factory for part of his adulthood; Owned and Operated the Polley Tavern for many years. After selling the tavern he worked at Walter Brothers Lumber in Cornell until retirement.

Richard enjoyed sports: playing softball, and was an avid bowler joining leagues in Gilman, Cornell, Thorp and Stanley. He played softball as long as he was able and enjoyed sporting events; whether attending or watching on TV. He was a big Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan ‘til the end.

Richard is survived by his seven children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl (Terri) Oberle and Bernie (Pat) Oberle, eight sisters, Carol (Melvin) Brenner, Arla Rains, Mary (Bill) Maurer, Fran Prasnicki, Lois (Allen) Tietyen, Anita (James) Mnichowicz, Rita Liazuk and Donna (Tom) Schmitt and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Dennis and Randy; two brothersin- law, Robert “Bob” Rains and Gary “Butch” Liazuk; and his nephew, Brian Liazuk.

Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
