Faye L. Curran, 96, of Medford passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Rib Lake from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m.

Faye was born on July 21, 1926 to Howard and Elsie (Meyer) Ainsworth in Monico. She attended Monico school grades 1-9, and graduated from Three Lakes High School in 1944. Faye then went off to Langlade Teachers’ College in Antigo, to begin her training to fulfill her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. She would spend the next 25 years taking night and weekend courses in Stevens Point to get her teaching degree, as she taught and raised her family. She married Harry Curran on Aug. 2, 1947 in Monico. She taught in Woodruff, Three Lakes and Eagle River elementary schools before starting her career in Rib Lake in 1950 where she would teach for the next 35 years until her retirement in 1988.

Faye will be best remembered for her knack with children, and what a positive influence she was in so many of her students’ lives. Her patience and love knew no bounds. Her faith made her such a pillar of strength for her family. She would spend the last 13 years of her life totally immersed in the lives of her great-grandchildren. We were all beyond blessed to have (Faye, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Auntie, Mrs. Curran) in our lives!

Faye loved her flower gardens and would plant them wherever she could find a spot. At her home in Rib Lake she had 16 flower beds! In 1984 she received an award for having the best flower beds, and that plaque still sits in her largest bed to this day. Faye also enjoyed snowmobiling with Harry and friends, camping, crafts, knitting, her work with her church, and we can’t say this enough- her grand/great-grandchildren!

Faye is survived by her children, Tom (Gail) Curran of Merrill and Kathy (Wayne) Laher of Medford; grandchildren, Kris (Jason) Lang, Linda (Gary) Radloff, John Laher, Mike (Laura) Curran, and Sarah Curran (Brian Bradshaw); great-grandchildren, Alex and Timmy Lang, Ella and Anna Curran, Sophia Curran, and step-great-grandchild, Rylan Bradshaw. Faye is further survived by other family and friends.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Harry in 2004; and siblings, Lawrence, Marion, Dorothy, Howard, Mike, and Tom.
