Arlene Schulz passed away on May 11, 2023.

ShewasbornonDecember 12, 1928, to Hugo and Hulda Schuette (Ihlenfeld) and was raised on a farm west of Unity. She graduated from Colby High School and then attended secretarial school in Eau Claire. She worked in Milwaukee for a short time until her marriage to Calvin Schulz on June 19, 1948.

The couple lived and worked in Kewaskum until moving back to their home area and purchased the Atwood store in 1954. Arlene managed and ran the store while Calvin worked as a cheesemaker until 1959, and then worked for George Kelley at Kelley Dairy Supply. They became part owners of that business and closed the store in 1972. She then worked at Kelley until they retired. The couple traveled and enjoyed retirement. They were married for 70 years until Calvin’s passing on April 30, 2019. She was a Sunday school teacher and organist at St. Lukes Lutheran Church South Green Grove for 25 years. Bowling and crocheting were her two favorite past times, as well as gardening at home in Atwood.

She is survived by her son, Loran, and family of Lodi, and daughter, Cheryl, and family of East Helena, Mont. She also is survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; her parents; sisters: Evelyn Schlinsog and Ethel Gerber; their spouses: Paul and Frances; brothers: Orville and Merlin, and their spouses: Katherine and Florence.

Per her request no formal ceremony will be held, and a private interment will take place at South Green Grove cemetery to join her husband, Calvin.
