Melvin Sensenig

Melvin S. Sensenig, age 69 years, of Curtiss passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral service was held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Clark View Mennonite Church in the Town of Longwood. Presiding were Abner Oberholtzer, Jerry Brubaker, Randall Martin, Paul Wesley Oberholtzer and Elvin Hoover. Serving as pallbearers were Leroy Sensenig, Landis Sensenig, Elam Ray Sensenig, Vernon Sensenig, Lydell Sensenig and Leon Eberly. Burial was in the Clark View Mennonite Cemetery.

Visitation was on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Green Grove Mennonite Fellowship Center (N12253 County Road P, Owen, WI). The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

MelvinwasbornonJanuary5,1954,inLancaster County, Penn., the son of Elam Z. and Alta H. (Shirk) Sensenig. He was united in marriage to Alma Hoover on April 10, 1975, in Pennsylvania. Melvin and Alma lived in Lancaster County, Penn., before moving to Wisconsin in 1978, where they farmed. Melvin’s occupation was farming and building silos. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Nobody was a stranger to him. He was friendly, and always had a good story to tell. He liked playing with his grandchildren, who were his heart’s delight. Melvin also loved to go out to eat with his friends.

Melvin is survived by children: Leroy of Lancaster, Penn., Landis (Rhoda), Elam Ray (Esther Mae), Darlene (Leon) Eberly, Vernon, and Louella, also a daughter-in-law, Margaret Sensenig, all of Clark County; 32 grandchildren; and siblings: Vera Mae (Leon) Martin, Irene (Ammon) Zimmerman, Minerva (Eli) Newswanger, Verna (Aaron) Nolt and Alta Faye (Marvin) Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elam and Alta Sensenig; wife, Alma Sensenig; son, Arlan Sensenig, a stillborn son, Darrell Sensenig and a brother-in-law, Melvin Weaver.
