Betty E. Bork, 99, of Medford, formerly of Decatur, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Medford with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday morning at Macon County Memorial Park in Decatur, Ill.

She was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Decatur to Edward and Lydia (Frahlman) Donaldson. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1941.

Betty had met young Paul Bork, who went to serve his country in the military during WWII. During the war, Betty worked at the local war plant, awaiting Paul’s safe return.

After the war, Paul returned to Decatur and the two were married on June 5, 1946. They resided in Decatur where Betty made their home and raised their three children. Once the oldest child started college, Betty went back to work as secretary for the Boy Scouts of America. After retirement, she worked part-time for the Girl Scouts of America. Paul preceded her in death in 1983.

In 1996, Betty’s daughter, Lynette lost her husband suddenly. Without hesitation, Betty moved to Medford to help her daughter with her young children. In Decatur, Betty was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was devoted to her faith and enjoyed attending church and bible study classes. While in Medford, she attended Trinity Lutheran Church. Her most cherished moments were time spent with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her three children, Charlie Bork, Lynette Binns, both of Medford, Paul Bork of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Eloise Neuendorf of Cleveland, Tenn., four beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel Bork of Ft. Collins, Colo., Stephanie (Matt) Jacobs of Woodland Park, Colo., Elizabeth Binns (Ollie Wilson Jr.) of Appleton, Ralph Binns Jr. (Jay Feldmeier) of Madison, great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Bork, Orrin and Annaliese Jacobs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Bork; son-in-law, Ralph Binns Sr., and brother-in-law, Roy Neuendorf.
