Carol L. Meyer, 82, lifelong resident of Taylor County, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Medford, with a meal and gathering following at B& S Bar, east of Medford.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Carol was born Jan. 3, 1940 in Medford, the youngest of 14 children, to Bessie (Singleton) and Ernest Westrich. She grew up in Perkinstown until the Westrichs moved to Medford when she was a young girl, and Carol attended Medford High School.

On Sept. 28, 1957, Carol married Lawrence A. “Larry” Meyer. They resided in Medford where she worked at the Sears Catalog Store in Medford for many years, then worked at Weathershield until her retirement in 2000.

Carol was a huge Packers fan and hardly ever missed watching a game. She also enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson, doing jigsaw puzzles, and knitting caps, afghans and scarves. She was a little girl at heart and enjoyed dressing up.

She is survived by her seven sons, Kevin (Julie) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Bryan (Cindy) of Gilman, Mark (Bernice) of Medford, Bob (Starla), Chuck (Janice), Gary (Marilyn), all of Westboro, and Matthew (Carmen) of Viola; two sisters, Rita Emmerich of Medford, Eleanor Olszewski of Cudahy; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one-on-the-way; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry on Dec. 4, 2002; siblings, Beatrice Andrews, Kathryn Deml, Ernest, Donald, Christine Halvorsen, Chrystal Dziedzic, Leroy, Lucille Draeger, Ida Frahmann, Orland, and Melvin; and brothers-inlaw, Kenneth Emmerich and Eddie Olszewski.
