Obituaries

1928-2022

Josephine Ellen (Kautzer) Loeffler, 94, passed peacefully on Sept. 27, 2022 at Rosemore Village Assisted Living in Wild Rose, Wis.

Josephine was born on May 21, 1928 in Taylor County, Wis. to Elmer and Elnora Kautzer.

Josephine (Jo) was born and raised on a working farm in Goodrich. She graduated high school and married Vernon (Vern) on Feb. 8, 1947 in Milwaukee. Jo worked hard all her life to care for her family and friends and left a legacy of service and devotion. In 1967 she and Vern moved to Fond du Lac where she resided until Vern’s passing. She returned to a cabin she and Vern built on family land in Taylor County.

She remained there with family and friends until moving to Oshkosh in 2017 to be closer to her daughters as she aged. Jo moved to Wild Rose, 2021 when her daughter, Kelly, relocated to that area.

Jo loved to cook for and feed everyone who came near her. She took great pride in caring for others and worked for many people providing inhome care and hospice care. Jo was an industrious crafter who had great talent with crochet, knitting, sewing and other creative crafts. She enjoyed working with Vern to sell the things they made together. Jo enjoyed gardening and continued this to late in her life even though she was terrrified of worms. Jo devoted much of her time to her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Grandma Great.” Jo volunteered and served with her local Legion organizations caring for veterans.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Vernon William Loeffler as well as her parents and siblings (Marie Zittlow, Keith Kautzer, Ken Kautzer and Sue Mains).

Surviving Josephine are her two daughters, Kathi (Denny) Roebke, and Kelly (Tim) Adlam and Judy Dehne, who she loved as her daughter. Also surviving Jo are her three grandaughters, Sarah (Aaron) Palmer, Dawn (Justin) Whitty, and Erin Adlam; and her grandson, Mike Roebke. Josephine has six surviving great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jarrett, Dallin, Gabriel, Gemma and Ella along with many nieces and nephews.

Per Josephine’s wishes, no services will be held. Her ashes will be placed to rest with her husband.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
