Danny Joseph Leary, 74, of Medford, passed away peacefully in his home on Sept. 20, 2022, surrounded by his family and under the loving care of his wife and children. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford, with Rev. Nancy Amacher officiating. Private burial will be at a later time. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the church.

Dan was born May 13, 1948 at home in Medford to DeForest and Alda (Miller) Leary. He graduated from Medford High School in 1966. On May 31, 1986, Dan married Laura Sova and resided in Menasha for seven years. While in Menasha, Dan worked as a real estate broker and managed two offices. After their time in Menasha, the family moved back to Medford, where Dan worked as a financial analyst for Nestle, and continued his real estate work.

Dan enjoyed nothing more than to be with his children, grandchildren, family and animals, which he loved dearly. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, building and remodeling homes. He loved coaching football and basketball, especially when the Packers and Badgers were on TV. Dan was strong in his faith and an active part of the church community; he was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s and served on the church council.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laura; a daughter, Amy Jo Friberg, Neenah; sons, Kelly Leary, Pueblo, Colo., Robert (Amy) Leary, Menasha, Benjamin (Hannah) Leary, Neenah; siblings, Mike (Becky Tylka) Leary, Medford, Patrick (Henrietta) Leary, Chippewa Falls, John (Jan) Leary, Fla., Ellen (Jim) Borman, Medford; close nephew, Jeff (Sharon Nelson) Brede, Lublin; ten grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two brothers; three sisters; and two brothers- in-law. Hemer-Pickerign Funeral & Cremation Services of Medford and Rib Lake is serving the family. Online condolences can be left at www.hemerfuneralservice. com.
