Jeannette L. Woods, age 91, passed away on Jan. 31, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7 at Lanham Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Paul Woods officiating. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.

Jeannette Louise Woods was born in Sparta on Dec. 1, 1931, daughter of Alvie L. and Marjorie J. (Kampman) Day.

As a child, she moved with her parents to Minn., where her father was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad. They returned to Sparta in 1945, when her father was transferred by the railroad. Jeanne graduated from Sparta High School, class of 1949. Following graduation, she worked at Monroe County Publishers in Sparta, as a teletypist, and then worked at Lawrence Lawson Elementary School for 23 years, starting there in 1970 and retiring in 1993.

Following retirement, she and Ernie spent many years wintering in Ariz. She enjoyed bowling, polka dancing, working crosswords and playing cards. She was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badger fan. She was known for her love of family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jeanne married Ernest Woods on Feb. 24, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Sparta and was privileged to celebrate 71 years with her loving husband, Ernie. In 2014, Jeanne and Ernie moved to Medford to be near family.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Ernie of Medford; daughter, Diane Woods of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Paul (Debbie) Woods of Medford; grandson, Nathan (Lauren) Theiss of Toronto, Canada; great-grandchildren, Carter and Jordan; granddaughter, Renea (Brent) Liebe of Waupaca; great-grandchildren, Latney and Falise Liebe of Waupaca; brother, Dick (Mary) Day of Prairie du Chien; sister-in-law, Fran Day of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Day; and sister, Phyllis Manske.

Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, is assisting the family with

arrangements.
