Stanley P. Slachetka, 91, of the town of Medford, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family and while under the care of Hope Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, at the Centennial Hall, 412 E. Centennial Ave. in Stetsonville. Burial will follow at Evergreen II Cemetery, Medford. Visitation will take place at the Centennial Hall on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.

He was born Nov. 1, 1929 in Thorp to Antonia (Madik) and Joseph Slachetka. He grew up in Thorp and attended the Field School there.

On Nov. 18, 1950, Stanley married Dorothy H. Duesing. They resided in the town of Medford, on Dorothy’s family’s homestead. There they farmed and ran a bed and breakfast called “Our Little Country Place.” Dorothy preceded him in death on May 29, 2021.

In his spare time Stanley enjoyed collecting and repairing tractors.

He is survived by his children, David (Linda) Slachetka of Medford, Lucey (Gary) Leonhardt of Medford, Violet (Tim) Matthias of Kerrville, Texas, Valerie (Brian) Becker of Harlingen, Texas, Tim (Kristina) Slachetka of Ogema, Stanley Jr. (Jane) Slachetka of Medford; a sister, Irene Smith of Elkhorn; a sister-inlaw, Mabel Alderink of Plymouth, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy.
