June A. Butkus

1931-2021

June A. Butkus, 90, of Medford, passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.

A memorial mass for June took place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial followed at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation took place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

June was born on Mar. 17, 1931 to Carl and Melanie (Bloechlinger) Freudenthal in Medford. She attended Medford area schools. She married Alfons “Alex” Butkus on Aug. 25, 1951; he preceded her in death on July 18, 2017.

Throughout the years June drove bus, cooked at various area schools, and retired from Tombstone Pizza in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved watching the Milwaukee Brewers.

June’s most precious love was her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be missed by so many.

June is survived by her children, Dale (Donna) Butkus, David “Crockett” (Penny) Butkus, both of Owen, Lynn Butkus of Medford, Kristin (Robert) Ruf of Elkhorn, and Scott (Anne) Butkus of Medford; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Chapman of Wausau, Lorna Spreen of Medford, and Ruth Feddick of Abbotsford; brothers, George Freudenthal and John “Jack” Freudenthal, both of Medford. June is further survived by other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, June was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Freudenthal.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in June’s name may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic School or Abiding Care.
