Barbara “Barby” Martin

1946-2021

Barb Martin, 75, of Medford died peacefully at Aspirus Nursing and Rehab on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021; under the loving care of Hope Hospice, where she resided for the last 8

months. Graveside services will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Rib Lake on Monday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. for all family and friends. A luncheon will be provided at BS Bar and Catering (Jerry) Werner, Dave (Jayne) Haenel, Danny (Janet) Haenel, Susy (Jess) Sackmann, and Lori (Steve) Schilling all of Medford.

She has 6 grandchildren who she adored, Sam Sterzinger, Logan Anderson, Dustin Dassow, Kyle Daniels, Wyatt Daniels and Kaylee Dassow. She also has 8 beautiful great-grandchildren, Sheyanne, Bristol, Reika, Lilly, Conor, Maverick, Reaghan and Avery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lolly; her son Wayne; and her brothers, Mike and Pat.

She worked at the Shoe Factory and Nursing Home in Rib Lake, and Weather Shield in Medford. She loved her grandchildren deeply; she had outings for many years with her 6 grandchildren at “the cabin” where she treasured and made many memories. She was always sewing or creating a new item for her grandchildren from refrigerator magnets, pajamas, scrapbooks for each one of them while she was able. She also enjoyed, embroidering, reading, playing Scrabble, and trying to master Facebook.

Barbara was born Feb. 25, 1946, to the late Walter and Louise Haenel. She was a 1964 graduate of Westboro High School. She was married to Ron Martin in 1965; they later divorced. Together they had 4 children, Cindy (Donny) Hardt of Dorchester, Deb (Lanny) Dassow of Medford, Tracy Silva of Green Bay and Wayne Ronald Martin, who preceded her in death.
