Sandra J. Dunkel
1942-2021
Sandra J. Dunkel, age 78, of Rib Lake, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Rib Lake Health Services, under the care of her family and Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Sandy was born in Medford on Sept. 13, 1942, to the late Joseph and Esther (Jarkow) Judnic. She was married to the love of her life, Vernon Dunkel, on Oct. 22, 1960; he survives.
by all those whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Vern, of Rib Lake; two sons, Randy Dunkel, of Rib Lake, and Ryan (Dawn) Dunkel, also of Rib Lake; two daughters, Robin (Jeff) Dunkel, of Medford, and Renee (Scott) Zondlo, of Rib Lake; three brothers, Jerry (Ann) Judnic, of Rib Lake, Larry (Pat) Judnic, of Rib Lake, and Russell (Judy) Judnic, of Stanley; two sisters, Doris Zitzer, of Rib Lake, and Lynn Judnic, of Kewauskum.
Sandy is further survived by her grandchildren, Mandi (Matt) Natzke, Randy, Jr., (Summer) Dunkel, Joe (Heather) Zocher, Tyler (Rachel) Zocher, Logan (Heather) Dums, Rachel Dunkel, Ryan, Jr., Dunkel, Dylan (Amalia) Willemssen, Dakota Willemssen, Breanne (Kelly) Polacek, and Brooke (Pete) Klingbeil; and her great-grandchildren, Rylee, Maddix, Cory, Cadence, Domanic, Blaine, Collyn, Rose, Violet, Lenora, Kearan, Waylon, and Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Esther; her grandson, Brent Zondlo; her brothers, Joe Judnic and Ronnie (Darlene) Judnic; and her sisters, Shirley Judnic and Cindy Borman.
Funeral services for Sandra Dunkel were held on Monday, July 5, 2021, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rib Lake. Pastor Kenneth Bittorf officiated. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m., Generations Funeral Home & Crematory of Tomahawk is assisting the family. Sandy attended the Rib Lake High School and afterwards moved to Chicago, Ill., for a short time. She returned to Wisconsin where she worked at Power Products in Port Washington. In 1971, Vern and Sandy moved to Rib Lake where she was employed at Marathon Cheese until her retirement in 2000. Sandy was an avid bowler, softball player, and loved playing Friday night dartball. She loved the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and the Spirit Twins Baseball Teams. Sandy was her children and grandchildren’s #1 fan and cheered loud and proud for all of them. She enjoyed gardening and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sandy was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
