Julia J. “Julie” Kile, 94, Grafton, formerly of Greenwood/ Willard, passed away at Anita’s Garden Assisted Living in Grafton, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020. Per Julie’s request, there will be no services held. Burial will take place in the Town of Butler Cemetery at a later date.

Julia Jean Bergant was born on May 28, 1926, in Willard to John Sr. and Margaret (nee Gornick) Bergant. She was raised on the family farm in Willard and received her education at McKinley School. Julie was united in marriage to David J. Kile on April 6, 1946, in Stanley. They farmed in the town of Butler for 15 years and then moved to Thorp. While in Thorp, Julie worked at a restaurant, a wood product manufacturer and in a motel on the south end of Thorp. After her husband’s death in 2004, Julie moved to Greenwood and resided there until moving with her sister, Margaret, to Grafton to be closer to family. She was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary. Julie had many interests, but especially enjoyed football, NASCAR (Tony Stewart being her favorite driver), plastic canvasing, coloring, reading, and she made the best lemon meringue pie in the universe!

She is survived by one son, Wallace Kile of Thermopolis, Wyo.; two granddaughters, Mitze Husby of Moundsview, Minn., and Gretchen Harris of Manassas, Va.; one grandson, Harley Kile of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Margaret “Mitze” Cohara of Grafton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Sr., on Jan. 24, 2004; one son, David Jr., on July 25, 2013; one brother, John Bergant Jr.; and one sister, Amy O’Gorman.
