Thomas “Tom” Lew Huggett, 72, born in Janesville on Nov. 8, 1947, died peacefully on June 20, 2020 in Rochester, Minn. with his family by his side following a courageous three year battle with cancer under Hospice Care at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minn. A private ceremony will be held with the family. Born in Wisconsin Tom’s family moved to Rochester, Minn. in 1957 where he grew up. He participated in track and cross country at John Marshall High School and RCTC and was very active in Boy Scouts. Tom was proud of his achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout. He attended college at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and obtained a bachelor of science degree in business with emphasis in accounting.

Tom married Judy Esterby, of Cannon Falls, Minn., in 1969. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1971-1977, serving a portion of his term in Germany.

His career in finance began in Minneapolis, Minn. at Fairview Hospital, Fairview Southdale Hospital and Methodist Hospital. In 1980 Tom moved with wife and children, Jennifer and Teresa, to Medford, where he was vice president of finance for Memorial Hospital of Taylor County until retirement.

Tom was an amazing grandpa and enjoyed attending many sports and activity events to cheer for and support his five grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed many trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area on canoe trip excursions and in Canada for fishing fly-ins with friend, Bill Flahave. Bill also introduced Tom to the sport of golf. They enjoyed various trips to northern Minnesota, Alabama and Hawaii further enjoying the sport. Tom avidly played golf during the summer season with a close group of friends in Medford, with early morning golf and senior tournament play.

Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy of Pine Island, Fla.; his children, Jennifer (Kevin) Therriault of Green Bay and Teresa (Kevin) Erickson of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren, Ava and Will Therriault, Shawn, Cora and Kullen Erickson; brothers, Michael Huggett of Plymouth, Minn. and Daryl Huggett of Woodbury, Minn.; sister, Rebecca Chrones of Green Bay; and many family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ruth Huggett; and brother-in-law, Thomas Chrones.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic, Eisenberg, Oncology, Palliative Care, and Hospice Care, and many others, for the wonderful, tender loving care through this time.
