Frederick “Fred” R. Schubert, 71, of Chippewa Falls, a former Medford area resident, died on Friday, June 19 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls, where he had been a patient for the past four days. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford with Rev. Rodger Prois officiating. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were family members.

Fred was born on May 26, 1949 in Medford to Herbert and Agnes (Neubauer) Schubert. He attended Brookside Elementary School, town of Medford and was a 1967 graduate of Medford High School. He worked on the home farm in the town of Medford, at Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford and, most recently, at Black River Industries in Medford. He was a huge sports fan all his life. Since 2002, he has resided at Wissota Health in Chippewa Falls.

Fred is survived by his siblings, LaVonne (Chuck) Thillen, Richard (Janice) Schubert, both of Medford and Herbert (Karen) Schubert of Rib Lake. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Georgia Schubert of Medford; and nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Herman Schubert.
